About Gea Norvegica UNESCO Global Geopark

Gea Norvegica Geopark is the first European Geopark in Scandinavia. It is located in southeastern Norway, in the counties of Vestfold and Telemark.

Geologically the area may be described as "where the old Scandinavian geology meets the younger geology of continental Europe".

Nature's history book lies far outside of the living room door, and in order to read and understand the story, one needs some background knowledge. The Geopark's geology tells an exciting story that spans a period of 1500 millions years.

Visiting the Geopark area you can experience many exciting things. Within 8 municipalities which cover the Geopark area, there are a lot of activities throughout the year.

Geopark films

Mølen is part of one of the worlds largest natural monuments from the last ice age.

Kapitelberget is a 430 million years old fossil coral reef, with a medieval crypt church situated on top.

Rognstranda – a beach separating two geological worlds.
